I remember back in the day to see how good a processor was, all people mostly did was look at how many mhz or ghz.

Now you have to look at, how many cores, front side bus, l1cache, l2 cache, shared cache.

I’m not a computer science major or a computer hardware specialist or anything. I still don’t think you really have to be very inclined to understand the tech specs of a processor.

All you have to really understand is that: higher number= better. Once you’ve wrapped your head around that mind numbing formula you have to do a little bit of research to figure out what l1cache, front side bus etc is responsible for. Then take into account possible crap like bottle necking. I’d assume that once you’ve done all that your pretty much set.
